haha I have just come from a carnival (for serious) and damn, there was no-one there, that looked THIS good!!!
I love the two versions .. (the light & dark).
This one in particular reminds me of one of my fav movies. 'Two Moon Junction', it's a flick from the late 80's, but oh so hot!!!!

Great work as always my love.

It's the details that really push this piece to another level; the hair, the tattoo, the shine on the carnival signs and the reflected fire light. Beautiful work. :)

I can smell the backstretch ... that exclusively carnivale olefactory banquet! I found it intersting that you set this piece in daylight; then in the large version I saw the beautiful reflections of the fire delicately dancing about his mouth and torso. Lovely.

Thank you very much..I made it daylight because I wanted it to very light, bright and festive. The other entry was as much an opposite as I could think of in emotion, also in daylight but indoors. So lets just pretend its Saturday and we all have arm bands! Bet I can eat more cotton candy than you :) See you at the "Tilt-A_Twirl"....

Ok ... but then I double dare you to get on the Octopus with me! (Always my favorite. although I did love to terrorize my sister on the Ferris Wheel.)

I agree with the choice of daylight, just wante you to know that I thought it was unusual and added to the piece.

O ... and look at 285 ... maybe that could be used for a backdrop if it inspires you? If not, please do not fret ... just an idea!

No, no, no ... the word in print cannot express thoughts as clearly as speaking. If you ever think I am criticizing, find another way to think on it. I would note you, as you request, if I had a negative thought but I cannot imagine that happening.

I agree that the contrast between your two entries is quite strong emotionally. I hope you win!

Most of the remarks about *my* work were plugs from you ... you are veryveryvery sweet to me!

Did you have a good holiday? We do not celebrate Easter; if there was a box we almost fit in, it would be pagan but we really do not fit in any box. We are spiritual but very unconventional. So, we went to the Hirshhorn and saw the new exhibit. The Smithsonian is only about an hour south for us.

The exhibit was abstract (natch!) called, "Light Work: Refract Reflect Project". Some of it was fantastic. Optical illusions always mesmerize me (think Bridget Riley) and there was a magnificent illusion.

I found a cool color game for the kids that teaches color theory while they play. This was a very fun day.

How did you spend your day? Why do you write HD after your works?

Sounds like you had a wonderful day! A blessing all the same. I had a fabulous holiday with my dearest friends...made a sinfully rich decadent coconut cake and took that. HD refers to my type of illustration..which stands for "High Definition"...both of the man and hopefully my strokes! Thanks again I can't wait to make tshirt transfers for my buds and I! .

wow! now this is truly amazing. i'm a huge fan of carnivals & fairs (go every year) -- your painting here captures the sideshow aspect (a segment of the carnival that is rapidly disappearing) beautifully. impressive work, as always. a pleasure to wake up to this piece this morning!
